Finale Tips

Fireworks Photography Tip

Photographing the finale of fireworks shows can be difficult.  The multiple bursts can be extremely bright.  You have to take care to control the exposure to be able to maintain detail in the highlights.

The above photo was taken during the finale of Wishes at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World.

As the show progress getting closer to the finale, I increased my aperture from F11 to f16.  I was also using a variable neutral density filter.  I dialed the filter from 2 stops to 6 stops for the finale.

Remember to cut the light for the finale with your ISO, aperture, neutral density filter or a combination of them.
